Ran through our online platform, The Training Ground, the ACT Awareness eLearning package is a free online counter-terrorism training course for all UK-based companies, organisations, and individuals.
To meet the national occupational for stewarding qualifications under the SGSA guidance, all stewards must complete this as part of their induction and familiarisation training and this is included as part of our Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding.
Taking around 1 hour to complete, the ACT Awareness eLearning will provide nationally recognised corporate counter-terrorism guidance to help people better understand, and mitigate against, current terrorist methodology.
The following eLearning Modules are available:
Introduction to Terrorism
Identifying Security Vulnerabilities
How to Identify and Respond to Suspicious Behaviour
How to Identify and Deal with a Suspicious Item
What to do in the Event of a Bomb Threat
How to Respond to a Firearms or Weapons attack
Summary and Supporting Materials
ACT for Security
Developed from a partnership between the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), the ACT for security modules builds on key counter-terrorism themes with a focus on those working within the security / public safety setting.
This can be completed through our online learning platform, The Training Ground and as best practice, we recommend that all candidates completing a course of learning with Arena complete this programme as the themes are transferable across multiple settings.
Taking around 1 hour 15 to complete, the ACT for Security works alongside our suite of SIA qualifications (including our Top-Up programmes).
There are 5 modules that cover:
the role of a security operative in counter-terrorism
current terrorist attack methods
identifying and responding to suspicious activity
incident response planning
responding to a terrorist incident
See, Check & Notify
See, check & notify covers the key themes of hostile reconnaissance for venues of all kinds with an emphasis on those sites requiring security / stewarding personnel. SCaN training empowers your staff to correctly identify suspicious activity and know what to do when they encounter it. The skills your staff learn will help them to provide an enhanced customer experience. It helps ensure that individuals or groups seeking to cause your organisation harm are unable to get the information they need to plan their actions.
This can be completed through our online learning platform, The Training Ground, and as best practice, we recommend that all candidates completing a course of learning with Arena complete this programme as the themes are transferable across multiple settings.
There are three key themes covered:
See – understanding what hostile reconnaissance is and how to spot it
Check – knowing what to do if you suspect hostile reconnaissance or identify suspicious activity
Notify – who should you tell and what should you tell them
Additional Counter Terrorism Modules
Whilst we cover elements of counter-terrorism where we can, there are additional counter-terrorism courses that are delivered solely by NaCTSO and their team of Counter Terrorism specialists.
